Alzheimer's Apocalypse

Our youngest daughter
lost her bestfriend today
And it happened
in such a peculiar way…

It wasn’t in an accident
or by some strange death
No, it was an unknown specter
that perpetrated this theft…

Of a mind and soul
from a man so vibrant, caring and sweet
Who’d go that extra mile
just to make your life complete

And as we watched
this gradual unwelcomed decline…
We kept the hope and prayed
for God to restore his mind…

Now with all that’s been said and done
he seems so much worse
And at times I’ve often wondered
is this an ancestral curse?

That befell someone
so unselfish, kind and true
Who worked all his life
and should be facing life anew…

But instead is lost
in the recesses of his mind
With seemingly no way out
from this Alzheimer’s kind

Yet we are still holding on
with the faith to believe
Our prayers for his healing
can still be achieved…

As long as God blesses
him with another day
Who knows that healing
just might come his way.

PEACE

Rising sun
Beautiful blue skies
Clouds moving
A warm breeze to my face…
Peace.

WHAT IS LOVE?

What is love?
A floating mist
of an untold kiss

What is love?
Teary eyes
in melcancholy skies

What is love?
A secret embrace
that’s hard to erase

What is love?
A heart that’s broken
now memory’s token

What is love?
A newborn baby’s smile
that made all the pain worthwhile

What is love?
Two people walking together
inspite of the weather

What is love?
A hug from a true friend
when you’re at your wit’s end

What is love?
A feeling of mind
that blesses all mankind

What is love?
A mother’s prayer
protecting her child anywhere

What is love?
A sudden epiphany
that explains God to me

What is love?
All of these things
from which somehow comes change…

That is love.

All Things Are Possible

All things are possible
when you believe
Even from the icy hand of death
you can be retrieved…

For it is written
and I lived to see it
The miracles of old
Now I can be it

A walking testimony
for all to see and hear…
Yes, it is by His hand
that I’ve seen another year

Escaped a death sentence
given to me in 2008
Yet here I stand as living proof
you just have to be patient and wait…

Through prayer and faith
for He who holds the power
When you think all is lost
will show you in that hour

Where you found no answer
that made any sense
When all was so meaningless
and life’s situation too intense

Because in the chaos unknowingly
you were in the arms of a Saviour
Who showered you with mercy
and granted you divine favor

In a time you thought
you would never live to see
He gave you a way of escape
by healing you completely.

All things are possible…

Time

by C.F. Leach

Time is more precious
the older you get.
Your thoughts now monumental
and so are the regrets

Too late to start over
as you muttle along
What did I do right?
What did I do wrong?

Sorry for the way
your time was spent
Time to make it right…
need to repent

For wasting a gift
that was given to me
Being too self-absorbed
I could not see…

It was much wiser doing for others
instead of myself
Herein lies the true victory
Herein lies the true wealth

For no matter what you amass
on this terra, this chaotic earth
Is not the measure
of your true self-worth

And it is so sad
we’re just not able to see
The things that are real
were so deceptively…

Hidden like some secret
in a mystery film
That can only be explained
in the Heavenlies Realm

Of the One Who created
this lifelong test
When upon our arrival
we will know the rest.

 'C'

by C.F. Leach

It’s odd to me
As I look into the sea
Of faces partial veiled
Who’s beneath you cannot tell

Eyes peering back at you
As you sort through the residue
Of social distancing and such
Afraid now to even touch

Your very own face
For this action just might erase
You from health into sickness
Another dissension into the quickness

Of a silent disease
A virus if you please
That’s transposing everyday
Making you wonder if there is a way

To escape its icy grip
As you try not to trip
On the rocks of terror, fear and horror
While you pray to see tomorrow

In the light which used to be
That is now the past for you and me
Yet all hope is not lost
Because Someone already paid the cost

For us to live without fear
His presence is forever near
Just continue to walk in truth
Where you victory will be absolute

As you feel the residue
Now you’ve finally gotten the clue
Thank God sitting on His throne above
Who never lets us fall from His wings of love.

What Was That?

2020 will go down in world history
As the year of unexpected madness and mystery
Of a time when plagues decided to re-emerged
Some say they were designed to wipe out and purge…

An overpopulated world
Silencing every man, woman, boy and girl
Of who some tried to get rid
While attempting to play God amid…

A hostile and divided land
Where everybody desperately needs the hand
Of God to move upon this ever evolving mess
So that He can once again bless…

The cries of His people
Who’ve become so tired and feeble
In a place that breeds corruption and greed
Where power doesn’t seem to care about the needs…

Of the classes they’re trying to erase
As the children of God pray to escape
Under the shadow of the Almighty’s wings
So they can again walk in life’s peaceful things.

What was that? Forcing us to wear masks and hand sanitizer
Think the experience will make any of us wiser?
As we learn to be thankful and appreciate the lives we were given
Returning us ,again, to righteous living

Or will we revert back to our old obtuse ways
Longing for what we thought were the good old days
Only to discover that is a direction not to return
Because now we’re walking a new path we all have to learn.

 Whose Holiday Is It?

Christmas lights flashing with such reverb
Before the first Thanksgiving Day turkey is even served

Newscasters pleading we need food and toys to help the poor
While stock market analysts make sales projections for the stores

Whose holiday is it anyway?
The poor and needy are with us everyday

Whatever it takes to make their consciences clearer
Food banks are running low and they need help to deliver

But whose holiday is it really?
People are shopping silly

There are 365 days in every year
For us to spread so much Yuletide cheer

The true meaning of Christmas got lost somewhere
Beneath the reindeer, red suit and white hair

Whose holiday is it actually?
Mass production is going on at all the toy factories

Yet amid the massive shopping hysteria and American Express
Many are still homeless, lost and depressed

Still living in cardboard boxes, under bridges, hungry and unemployed
For the true Christmas Holiday celebrates the birth of our Savior and Lord

He taught us to love our neighbors as well as ourselves
Not some North Pole location full of imaginary elves

It is better to give than to receive every day of the year
Not just in Yuletide season so I hear

When we can master always caring and being genuinely concerned
Then the true meaning of Christmas will be a lesson earnestly learned

Whose holiday is it ?

 Hidden Secrets

by C.F. Leach

Secrets hidden beneath the truth
I’ve searched for them all my youth
Walking on life’s sandy beach
Looking at the clouds that are out of reach

Yet the glistening sands are beneath my feet
As the tides of life begin to sweep
Up against my cold feeble legs
That have become dark icy pegs

Stuck in a place I can’t seem to get out
And no one hears my screams and shouts
As the foaming waters cover my knees
The wind is now a strong towing breeze

Pushing me as I cry to the Father from these crested shores
Please save me, refresh me, strengthen and restore
This life as its seas try to wash mine away
All I need is just one more day

To find those secrets beneath the truth
When no one else can seem to scoop
Away the sand until this truth is found
Which places my feet on the solid ground

Of a future more brighter than before
Into which I skip along life’s beach forevermore.

 Those Simple Days

by C.F. Leach

Ran into the Keeper of Memories the other day
Who had the most amazing things to say
He reminded me of a time when life was a simple thing
When we just had fun not worrying about the gain

The gain of fame, success, that promotion and money
Simplicity now gone—nothing of life seems funny
About those dreary work days and cold sleepless nights
Relationships gone sour with all the constant fights

From which I’m seeking peace wherever it can be found
No longer with my head up, but always looking down
Thinking what happened—why am I here?
In the same place year after year

Missing the heart who loved the Lord so much
That constantly prayed for the warmth of His touch
Wonder what happened to those simple days
Perhaps it’s now time for me to change my ways.

A Blogger's Psalm

While looking at the computer screen
And mulling over some scribbly notes
Trying to figure what it all means
Perplexed by all the likes and votes

Listening to the oldies on Quiet Storm
Memories of days gone by
Tugging my creative arm
As I place these glasses on my eyes

Intoxicating notes float in the air
While I get lost in the beauty
Of catching the right key without a care
As I try typing the post — my active duty…

Because I’ve made a commitment
To God, myself and those readers
In finding the paths to their destined fulfillment
As they scroll and click through the features

On this website—one of many
That gives all sorts of advice from A to Z
In hopes this info sticks if any
While they navigate these cyber seas

With hopes of finding the right keys
That will unlock their understanding
As they desperately search to see
How to finally make life’s happy landing

 Tears

by c.f. leach

A cry to the sky
As water pours from my eyes
When my heart if so full of pain
I hide my tears in the rain

Gray skies moving overhead
While I lay prisoner in my bed
To a night of restless thoughts
All this toil and nothing wrought

The Son bursts through the clouds
Disintegrating this invisible shroud
That weighed so heavily on my life
Things are beginning to look right

As He brightly summons the day
Driving the hopelessness and tears away
in the anticipation and faith
Now understanding the wait

For the miraculous to start
With a newly created heart
New strength—new life to begin
It was never a loss—but was always a win.

Was Lost But Now Am Found

by c.f. leach

I have a cell phone in my bed
A remote control somewhere over my head
Wakin’ up to the sounds of MTV
The singer’s lyrics make no sense to me

Still hazy from the night before
Feels like I had a bout with Tyson my body is sore
One week in hell and beyond
The stress and strain makes me want to abscond…

Into the Twilight Zone
A new dimension where I am unknown
A place of peace and creativity
A whole new world, an adventure to see…

Consisting of meekness, compassion, love and happiness
A residence where all shortcomings can be addressed
In obscurity, where the soul can be cleaned
And somehow the anointing redeemed

When back from the Zone one is renewed
With more strength and vigor; all dreams can now be pursued
And one is thankful for the mental vacation
This spirit is replenished— filled with such expectation

Now returning to the battle of life where we must go
When this war is over nobody knows
At least now in this fight you’ve got the edge
You won’t be found standing on that ledge…

The very platform from which many have plunged to their end
You shall fight and you shall win
For you did not plunge but you learned to fly
Because you chose not to buy into defeat’s lie.

Climbing back into the ring until the final bell is rung
‘Til the final tear is shed and final song is sung
All the lessons have been taught
And all the flowers have been brought

There is silence all around
You cannot be found
For man’s spirit is gone never to earth shall return
If the time is well spent in sacrifice he may have earned

The right to be an angel of the light
Perhaps some of life’s wrongs he was able to make right
Fond memories will always be in the hearts of those who were near
Memories of love, joy, special moments and good cheer

For life is but one grain of sand
Falling through the cracks of our mortal hands
Onto a beach where each grain shines differently in the sun
Who answers to one name called by the Holy One.

DESTINY

by c.f. leach

Where does Destiny lie?
In the mountains, trees or sky?

Is it plain view?
Or in the rivers, brooks or morning dew?

Is it in the clouds, the earth; under a rock?
Or in a book, puzzle, picture or clock?

Is destiny measured by days, weeks, months, and years?
Or does it shine through after much agony, suffering, and tears?

Is it in a reflection in a pool?
Or can you find it in a class at school?

Is it under a rug, in the corner of a room?
Or is it in a portrait of a bride and groom?

Destiny is easy to find;
It’s always inside your heart, soul, and mind.

Yet you must climb many mountains to find Destiny’s Peak;
For it is merely God’s way of making your life complete.

Destiny is not the end, just a new beginning;
When it comes alive in you— you’ll know you’ve always been winning…

The chase for the end of the rainbow which is much closer than you think;
Once Destiny flowers in you—-you’ll have found that missing link.

MYSTIC EYE

by c.f. leach

Clouds of thoughts flooding my brain;
Ideas cultivate those thoughts as the pouring rain…

Of Spring blossoming fresh and anew.
My computer keys have a different point of view…

Seen through the mystic eye of the Creator’s thoughts;
New mountains to climb and greener pastures to walk.

Revitalized fluttering wings out of the cocoon of creation.
So happy, exuberant, flying at such high elevations…

Rediscovery, new challenges yet to grasp;
I’m finally in my writer’s place at last!

Blind-Sided

by c.f. leach

Hatred is like cancer, it eats you inside out;
Makes you lash out at the ones who love you as you scream and shout.

Causing you always to have nasty things to say just to inflict pain;
Because you refuse to realize your shortcomings, you gradually become profane.

You’ve lost your righteousness in some remote abyss…
As you conspire to antagonize with a serpent’s ‘hiss’.

Kindness is a quality you’ve hardly ever known,
When all around you everyone sees the evilness you’ve shown.

People genuinely concerned about what’s truly wrong with you;
Perhaps it’s spiritual warfare you are going through.

If only you’d reach out and grasp the LOVE that’s all around;
You then could grasp your FAITH and get up off the ground.

If only you could understand time keeps marching on;
As you engage in vengeful acts to enhance your evil wrongs.

And peering into the eyes of those who love you no matter what;
Aching to peel off the ugly mask for the TRUTH but…

That too makes you so sad;
After all the things you’ve done while being mad.

Yet having now the WISDOM to know you were robbed of great wealth,
While totally engrossed with your wretched inner self.

Missing out on blessings you never got to see;
All because Satan blinded you so easily.

Now the scales have fallen from your eyes and into the LIGHT your blindness is truly gone.
Thank GOD for His GRACE and MERCY, you’ve got another chance to carry on.

A Viewing Heart

by c.f. leach

Peering out my window nobody is there;
‘Cause there’s a silent enemy creeping everywhere.

Could be on a counter-top, in the air or on the handle of a grocery cart;
This thing is keeping family members, best friends; everyone apart.

Yet at the same time this enemy has created in us a new vision,
Away with all the past nonsense that caused so much division…

A long division with lots of remainders and no equal parts,
As we now in totality desire peace and unity in our hearts

How long this will last no one can predict;
While we all watch and wait as the hands of time tick—-

Waiting with anticipation to once again be set free;
Thank God for Christ Jesus hanging on that tree…

Where He was humiliated, mocked and mistreated.
Where our common enemy was at last defeated;

So we could look out our windows and see a new hope,
Which will give us the spirits and strength to cope…

With no fear, uncertainty, but much prayer
For He too, right now, is everywhere.

Printed Purposes

Every week I peck at these computer keys;
Giving you a glimpse into a world He alone weaves.

That can only be seen by a desperate heart,
Who sees the words more than just creative art…

But printed purposes sent from above;
The way of displaying all His power and love.

In a time when hope seems lost in the darkness of fear,
He wants us all to feel His presence is still here.

If we would just simply open the Book,
And take to ourselves one honest look…

To see the truths that really matter,
Amid all this noisome chatter.

Then our hearts would begin to smile,
Realizing this trouble is only for awhile.

And be thankful unto Him who has only our best interests at heart;
As we take our first steps into our new start.
